Silly goose...
When I was about 19, I remember my dad (DB) taking me to Culzean Castle for a day out. I was horrified. The idea of going round a National Trust property with my ancient father (he was about 52 at the time!) appalled me.
DB laughed, and told me that I'd probably enjoy history and nature more when I was a bit older, but stupid, ungrateful child that I was, I just remember sighing, tutting, and rolling my eyes a lot.
Now that I'm just about to reach my 60th birthday, you can't keep me away from NT and Historic Scotland properties. There's nothing I like better than wandering through a beautiful house, marvelling at the architecture and enjoying the sheer artistry of a Head Gardener.
I'm just sorry I can't tell my dad he was right.....
