Norfolk Island Pine...NOT!

It's been a slow day today. Hot outside and cold enough for a sweatshirt inside. I'm still trying to figure out the heat pump and the corresponding thermostat which says it's on auto, meaning that it knows how to switch from heat to cool by itself, but it appears to be permanently on cool and the temperature settings don't seem to bear any resemblance to the actual temperatures inside the house.

I took today's picture in an effort to get a closer look at the 'flowers' on the blooming agave. Although they continue to grow larger, even a zoom lens doesn't reveal much resemblance to flowers. Other than one of Blake flaked out in a patch of sunshine streaming through the kitchen door, this was the only other picture I took today. Out of curiosity, I challenged the plant app on my phone which said it was a Norfolk Island Pine.

Peter regaled us with stories of his adventures with four cats, two belonging to Will and Chloe, and seemingly desperate to get out of the room where they are staying. The 'fat' one (Harley) is determined to eat Sassy, Dana's three legged cat's food, and apparently figured out how to open the door, even after Peter had created several different cunning barricades designed to prevent Harley from being able to reach the handle. I told him to put a sock over the top of the door to jam it shut so we'll see if that made it possible for him (Peter, not Harley) to get a good night's sleep. We're abandoning the four cats and the two dogs at our house and taking Peter to Rosso's for dinner tonight.
