Whose land is it anyway?

This area of land is opposite the villa. Apparently it cannot be used for private development as it is consecrated ground that previously was the site of a church - I don't know the denomination.. Some guardians live in a small home on the land and these folk keep chickens who roam free (and whose eggs I buy). In the evenings, the wild boar often run to the sea front through this land.  At other times you can also spot some of the local garden cats having a nap. 

This all means that Rufus is fascinated by this area of dead shrub and grass, and every 'walkies' starts and ends with him sniffing around for the latest information on who has passed by ....
