New Herring Season

It's the start of the new Herring season here in The Netherlands and there's always a festival at the harbour on the first weekend to herald the first catches.
Many stalls line the harbour-sides selling fresh herring, mackerel, eel etc.
Many men and women dress in the outfits of days gone by and showcase some of the skills required of the sea-farers and those left onshore.
There are boat-trips, stages with singers, some from schools and clubs, singing sea-shanties and local songs which had the crowd singing along.
A great day out, and the sun graced us with the pleasure of it's company too!
