The Irwell, heading away from Manchester

I met up with Simon at Islington Mill, this afternoon, before we set off on the second part of the run I did with Hannah, yesterday, walking out of Salford and picking up the Irwell as it exits from Manchester City centre.

It was a lovely sunny day and flew right in the face of these rumours of "fifty days of rain" that have been going around. We had a wonderful walk along the river, chatting away as usual, and then crossed over and headed south down to Chorlton. Only an hour and a quarter, all told.

We met up with Ian at The Beer Company, where we enjoyed a couple of hours sitting and chatting in the little area out front while we watched the world go by.

Ian's kids, Daisy and Jonty - both absolute credits to him - joined us for a drink and then we all went for dinner at The Little Yeti, which was excellent.

Charlie couldn't join us for dinner because it was her final session at the Mile Shy Club before Parkrun on Saturday, but she came down afterwards, and we all retired to the Beer Company for a nightcap.
