Day 175/24. A Ruddy Darter

One of my favourite draginflies, and these are pretty easy to photograph.
They are pretty common around where we live. This one posed nicely at the RSPB reserve in Pagham Harbour. Their wing base architecture is amazing.
Common throughout much of England, south Wales and east Northern Ireland, they’re found in a variety of wetland habitats, normally not too far away from water.
The males are blood red (this one is a male), the females are pretty drab.
