Pied currawong

The pied currawong is native to eastern Australia. It's quite a large bird like its relative the magpie. The currawong is so called because its name resembles its call so it's onomatopaeic. It is omnivorous.

This one was in the tibouchina tree in our back yard. It was hopping around busily and I wondered if it was looking for nesting materials. I thought it was a bit early for that but I expect it knows what it's doing. I love its yellow eyes.

Happy start to the week.
