Charles de Mills

Not much sun in the garden late in the afternoon but it’s lovely and warm.
From where I recline on my steamer chair I can see this amazing old rose. I bought it about 9 years ago and it seems to have finally matured into a good shape.
It’s a very old French variety, a Gallica, and has apparently been in cultivation since 1790.
This one was bought to mark our Ruby wedding. It has earned all the space it takes up in our modest urban garden.
