Meadow Brown

The first one I've seen this summer.
This meadow brown butterfly, Maniola jurtina, insisted on hiding amongst the meadow  plants making it difficuly to get a clear shot.  I consequently only managed a handful of captures - all silhouetted against the light so difficult to process to show clear details.

In general, there are fewer butterflies about than usual for this time of year in my part of Fife.  I have noticed other blippers making the same comment so it must be a widespread reduction in abundance rather than just a local variation.
