Here and Now

Blue Sky Day

New picnic shelter almost finished at Hinckley Reservation, Medina County.   A fun-as-usual two hour shift with MS.  We met at the horse trailer parking lot (Hinckley Hills Rd), and hiked in the cool of the forest on the Hinckley Hills, Horseshoe, and Carriage trails. It was still warm and muggy and got buggy toward the end despite our heavy insect spray.

On the way home (it's great to be retired!) I meandered into HInckley Township to look around and then popped into The GreenSmith Garden Center.  Then on to Richfield Heritage Preserve that I've been wanting to see for a few years.  It was once a Girl Scout camp, called Crowell Hilaka.  I look forward to returning with Mr Mole who thinks he camped there in his teens.  Lots to experience:  forested hiking trails, two lakes, historic structures (homes, cabins, lodge, barn, bridges, and two mills).  Jim Kirby, the inventor of the washing machine spin cycle and portable vacuum cleaners had a country home there.

Extra:  collage.  MS and I found the stones arranged like a horse on a rock on a bridle trail in the middle of the woods with the charm left there.

A great day out!
