Arrived!
Another long drive, unfortunately with the sky becoming increasingly cloudy. We chatted about all sorts and stopped a couple of times en route to stretch our legs, get a sandwich lunch and some petrol.
Arrived at the homeswap house in a little village on The Lizard after a bit of confusion over the final bit of the directions. Explored the house with all the many notes left for us…it’s a really big place and will be very comfortable. We decided to get a feel for our location so walked down the little path next to the house and found a little beach with no vehicle access so it feels like our own secret one! No shells, but we had a good wander and admired the waves crashing on the rocks and willed the sun to break through the clouds. It was at least warm…..
Walked back via a different path into the centre of Mullion and then back to the house via the little Co-op and past some lovely houses and a couple of pubs.
When we worked out where everything was we had a cup of tea and made supper of salad, quiche (homemade and kindly left by our host) and baked potatoes during which the sun finally came out, then retreated to the upstairs lounge with large balcony for the rest of the evening, sending notes back and forth with our homeswap people as they settled into my place (but had mislaid my notes about the place that I’d emailed them…!)
Let’s hope the cloud stays away the rest of the week…looking forward to exploring Cornwall again as it’s 8 years since we’ve been here.
