7:45pm
Nothing remarkable about this image of the patio chairs at the end of the garden, except that until today’s work in the garden, the sun would not have reached the chairs after 7:00 pm.
The small tree planted in the western border had grown to such a height that it blocked the sun reaching this part of the garden. We’d created a patio in this position to catch the setting sun in the summer, primarily when we both worked full time and we could only enjoy the garden in the evening and weekends. As it is the garden faces north east and hardly sees any sunshine in the winter months.
It as quite challenging to trim the tree, and required going into the neighbour’s garden to cut some of the branches. Time will tell if we need to remove the tree altogether but for now we can at least enjoy the late evening sunshine again.
