In the server room
We were a bit miffed at how much troubleshooting Dell wanted us to do before coming to look at a server that wouldn't boot. Turns out one of the two DIMMs (memory cards) is broken - though we're surprised that didn't at least give a boot error! It's a lot more faff to swap memory about and try rebooting a rack mounted machine than a desktop! :) they're sending us a new DIMM, so we'll need to take it apart again tomorrow to fit it.
(I don't do hardware much, so this is a bit of a novelty. Worst bit? The padded ear defenders are old enough that the faux-leather is starting to disintegrate and leave black bits in your hair)
