Local Windmill, Kloosterzande

'Kloosterzande' = 'Close-tur-zan-duh'

Built most likely in 1690 and, until 1852, had never had a proper owner.  Is that why it hasn't been given a name?  I would have named it 'The Box'.  In 1920, the owner wanted it demolished, but Henriette 'Jet' Baronesse Collot d'Escury of the local aristocracy disagreed and purchased it.  In 1959, she sold it for one symbolic florin (pre-euro currency) to the municipality of Hontenisse (four syllables) who had a large amount of restoration work done on it, spread out through the rest of the century, all the way up to 2019.  I deeply admire those who believe in the ongoing resuscitation or resurrection of these old structures.  They do not have to be in anyone's way and, if they could speak, I'm convinced they would have liked to go on serving the communities where they are located.

A day when I would have preferred to just stay in bed.  Waiting can wear one down, so I am thankful to the very beautiful weather for convincing me that there is life outside the windows.  A bit of a damper was the letter AW got from a clinic that the stool analysis performed on the sample he sent indicated a very wee trace of blood.  An appointment has already been made for him for Monday, 08 July, but that's now in my head as well.  AW doesn't feel anything is wrong at all, so my anxiety level has dropped, but I will come along on the day.  Not so surprising was the loss of our boys against the Austrians.  We both saw that coming.  A wonder if we survive till the Q-finals.

Anyway, after dinner, AW left for yet another bridge evening, again with Lavinia.  A summer game.

Thankful for good hunting weather yet again!  More good weather predicted for the coming 48 hours.
