NT Dunham Massey
We , with Manchester Friends, visited the library at the above property and strangely it was full of books which you couldn’t touch! And in its midst was this wonderful exquisite carving of the Crucifixion by Grinling Gibbons.
He was found carving it by the diarist John Evelyn in 1671who was passing a ‘ poore solitary thatched farmhouse ‘ near Deptford. He told the King, as you do , and Grinling became rich and famous I hope.
