Skipper butterfly
I was on the allotment fairly early this morning as it was forecast to be a very hot day. I ended up spending rather longer than expected planting out the courgette plants and a number of tomato plants. The main problem was the oxalis weed which needed to be dug out including all the bulbils at the base of the roots. It took me almost 3 hours and it was very hot by the time I finished.
After lunch I decided I wanted to retrace my steps of the other day when I was out with a small group to find the silver studded butterfly. I knew if I didn't do it fairly soon I would forget. It was a fairly long walk but I managed to find the location. Funnily enough it was in a position where a group of marines were doing their training. So as individuals walked by me with their faces coloured a dark green and some with branches and leaves around their bodies, I was there staring at the bushes looking for a butterfly. I did eventually find 2 and was then photographing them as they fluttered around. As it was warmer than the Monday they didn't stay still for long. I then retraced my steps and found this skipper butterfly. There weren't that many butterflies out although I probably saw about 4 different types in all.
A busy day as after tea I then weeded a patch in the allotment and planted some herbs I had bought.
