Cat Woman - Graffito.
Today’s plan was to walk to the station to catch the Bergen to Oslo train, it would save man-handling all our baggage on the light railway that we had been using all week. We knew that we would pass this graffito that I had been eying up every time we passed it (twice each day) on the train, so I had the camera ready and Herself had allotted me 5 minutes to take the Blip.
At the station we grabbed a quick breakfast (coffee and a bun for me) and waited for the train which was supposed to provide the photo opportunities of a life-time. It didn’t, the booking system selected our seats at random and the train was too full to negotiate; then the trees and track-side furniture flashed across any attempt at a photograph and the field of view didn’t allow any selection of composition.
An added problem was that most of the first 85 miles in tunnels! We eventually emerged well above the snow line at 1,080 metres.
Jnr had the right idea, a week or so later he caught the bus from Bergen to the start of a hike to Trolltunga (The Troll’s Tongue) and spent a day doing the hike both ways. Would that we were still fit enough to manage that.
Not knowing where the Hell our hotel was, we grabbed a taxi and, having settled in, we walked back to the station to get some supper and were accosted by a friendly Norwegian who was interested in what we thought of Norway, amongst other things, and because it was so noisy, it was a difficult conversation to follow. His command of English was not up to the normal standard for Norwegians, which didn’t help us any.
