Art at bar

After the work day, I went to document this wall painting by visual artist Unto Ahjotuli in the archives of the South Karelia Museum, because it cannot be saved without breaking it. He painted this directly to the bar wall 1992. Bar has finished its business 2014 and the whole building is abandoned since then. Its also owned by our parish union, so that's the reason I got the keys for access.

Unto passed away in the spring at the age of 85 after a serious illness. He was a respected painter and had several exhibitions in Finland and abroad over the decades. He was also the man thanks to whom Galleria Pihatto and the beautiful park around it started in 1996. He also lived in the artist residence upstairs of the gallery for the last 20 years. During his childhood, he lived next door to the famous Finnish composer Jean Sibelius in Järvenpää.
