Beatles on the Liverpool Waterfront
We couldn’t leave Liverpool without a tribute to the Fab Four. So here they are on the waterfront walking out towards the Mersey. I had to wait quite a while to get a shot without loads of people posing with the group.
We packed a lot into the time before the train left at 16.43. First stop was Mathew Street and the site of the Cavern Club which was interesting to see. The area has been designated a cultural quarter.
Next it was the Royal Liver Building 360 tour taking us to the very top of the building for far reaching views of the city, the river and the Wirral which was where today’s extra was taken.
That just gave us enough time for the famous Ferry Across the Mersey trip giving fine if very draughty views all around.
Rather than take it easy we took in a little more of the Liverpool Museum and ended the visit with a lunch at the Akasya restaurant which again was excellent value.
The journey home got progressively more frustrating. Left Liverpool on time, picked up delays enroute arriving 4 down. The tube to Victoria was stop start meaning we missed the 19.25 by 2 minutes. The next, 19.55, was cancelled owing to “passenger disturbances” on the inbound train. We’re now on the 20.25 which is a packed 4 car train. Hey ho!
