Irish Eyes

When I returned home yesterday there was a lot of post awaiting. The most urgent item to deal with was my postal vote, which I’ve sorted today.

I’ve known how I am going to vote for ever, but I still had a flick through the election literature pushed through the door. Four parties. Three of the four feature the candidate, the fourth features the party leader. Three of the four feature a party leader, one leader featuring in two of them. The current prime minister does not feature at all.

I’ve not watched any of the TV debates - as someone who is interested in politics, the banality of the debate (never mind the cynical attacks and lies), and the absence of any real debate about the big issues the country faces, is deeply depressing. So to cheer things up, and as it’s a Friday, a rose (variety Irish Eyes) takes centre stage.
