Fledgling Great Tit ( Parus major )

Kat was coming down from Edinburgh for an overnight stop off on her way to a weekend event.  As always I took "just in case" shots fairly early in the day.  It was a good job I did as after she arrived things were hectic with Kanyl visiting as well.  The planned BBQ was abandoned, rain stopped play.

Currently the garden is being visited by lots of fledgling Tits, both Great and Blue.  The population of Great Tits has increased by around 93% over the last 60 years.  This  is a pleasing increase when you realise that an adult GT on average has only two breeding seasons.  Having said that the record age proved by ringing is 10 years 5 months 18 days.
