Wicksteed Express

This handsome locomotive graces one of the playgrounds in the village.

As the plaque proudly states, it's the creation of Wicksteed, a UK manufacturer based in Kettering,  Northamptonshire since 1918. There must be an opportunity for the marketing department to crunch some numbers and pop a rolling counter on the website saying something like "number of happy dreams created on our equipment xxxxxxxx" - it would be a wonderfully large number to see spin round.

This one has been enjoyed for at least 20 years and still looks to be in fine fettle.

I'm not sure why they chose to park it on an expanse of raspberry pie filling, but there you go.
