Bamse
Today in Montrose there was a special celebration of Bamse.
Bamse was a St Bernard dog who belonged to a Norwegian Sea Captain. Bamse ship was stationed at Montrose & Dundee during World War II. Bamse became a celebrity in the area for various reasons including rounding up sailors who were late in returning from the pub, Bamse also broke up fights.
Today the Norwegian Navy visited Montrose to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Bamse’s death.
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend the ceremony as it took place at Montrose harbour while I was at the museum. But I thought a blip of the Bamse area would be appropriate.
