Pavement Posies

...still thriving growing from their crack in the pavement. Ironically, we (that is the royal 'we' as John did it all...I supervised!) just took out a whole bed full of verbena  which looked horrible.

The discussion over coffee this morning was predictable...the debate which was deemed by those who watched it as pretty dismal. We are all on the same page politically so there was no controversy, just bafflement as to how either candidate arrived at this point. One is an unconscionable liar and the other, while I feel is still reasonably competent is really just too old, and apparently he did nothing to change that perception last night. I know that many people on this site have expressed their bewilderment over how we got to this point, and all I can say is that we are all equally bewildered. And, not to put too fine a point on it, rather terrified. It does look like the end of a powerful democracy, but perhaps it has looked like this before.

Dana joined us for coffee and she and I went to the yarn store afterward. I haven't been in there in quite awhile, but was greeted by name by Justine, the owner. I always think that this is really good business, though I'm sure I couldn't do it myself,  and does motivate me to get back to knitting again. It is really more than a yarn store ...more like a  craft shop. We wandered amongst the tables loaded with felting wool, lots of yarn, sashiko supplies and  books. Unfortunately it reminded me of all the unfinished projects I already have at home, so I didn't buy anything.

Our plans for drinks with the neighbors have fallen through because she is sick, but it certainly won't stop me from drowning my sorrows tonight.
