Red Ryder
A domestic day for me mostly, as my sister is coming to stay next week.
This evening, while I continued with catching up on housework and listening to the radio, Martin went to Beaulieu Road in the New Forest to lead other RSPB members, looking for Nightjars. (I have been before, and it makes for a late night). The birds appear at dusk, from their daytime roosts, and the males make a really strange churring call. Then they fly around, catching flying moths, beetles and other insects.
Anyway, tonight, the RSPB group were successful in finding Nightjars, and a variety of other bird species.
My blip is of the flowers of Kohleria Red Ryder, the rhizomes kindly supplied by blipper, TonyG, (Crocusman). I love the red-veined leaves, as well as the fine, red flowers.
