Day 26 - it’s got to be - the Netherlands
When I told Mr C the tickets for the open air theatre show Mama Mia started at £50 he put his foot down on that suggestion - especially as Mama Mia is “too girly” for him. (I was surprised at the number of young peopl, or young women and their mums to be more accurate, heading off to it - #1 daughter would have been 53 and they were a bit before her time).
Still when it came to the pay-back we’ll be divesting ourselves of £16 each to get into the Mauritshaus to see the Dutch art I’ve set my heart on. It’ll be a complicated trip to get there - borrowed bikes then 2 trams as there’s no parking and we don’t have the emissions clearance anyway. But that will have to wait till tomorrow. The Hague is packed today as they have a special celebration going on.
We had a late lunch after filling up with cheap LPG and diesel before we go home, then getting rid of waste at the campsite. It’s a strange site. We are deemed too heavy for the grass so have a random bit of hard standing beside the track round to the field where smaller vans can go. However we have electricity and there’s a bit of grass we can put out table and chairs on. The site was scary to reach. It was a single track paved road with a narrow bike track at the side and a canal at the other. I hope we don’t meet another vehicle on our way out as there’s no room for both.
We had a walk by two canals. There were 3 windmills, now houses. It’s quite rural with sheep and ducks though there’s always the hum of distant motorways. We need to borrow bikes tomorrow get to two trams to The Hague first then Delft - hopefully.
I’m going to use stuff up and make a veggie chilli tonight.
183 miles today.
