Welsh Cake

Welsh cake (1 of 6).

For a mid-morning snack, we got Welsh cakes at the Cardiff Market. I got conventional ones, and we managed to find some for Dan at a gluten free bakery stall. Texturally, I found them to be between cake and a biscuit (in the American sense of 'biscuit': most similar to but not quite like a scone). They were pleasant.

Today we saw everything in Cardiff we hoped to except for the castle which was closed for a multi-artist EDM concert which started this afternoon and still continues, as I write this, into the night (audible from our hotel adjacent to the castle). Ah well... we couldn't see every castle in Wales if we tried (short of retiring here and single-mindedly dedicating ourselves to the project). Having EDM music festivals within the walls of a medieval castle does inform my overall sense of Cardiff. It's a lively and interesting city.
