EMERGENCY BLIP

The weather was chilly and dull today and we had some rain this afternoon.  Not a day to get any gardening done which was what I had planned to do. I did go to the Co-op... got the bus there and walked back.

At 5pm I settled down to watch the footie.  Euro 2024 - Switzerland v Italy.  I was rooting for Switzerland as Newcastle player Fabian Schar is in the Swiss team.  Italy didn't play well at all ... Switzerland were much better and the final score was Switzerland 2 Italy 0.  England play tomorrow and if they win they will face Switzerland in the quarter finals.

I was blipless this evening so I took a shot of one of my Amazon purchases which were delivered today.  Ive been using this stuff for years but today I wondered why it was called " Bar Keepers Friend ".  I found out that in 1882 a chemist in Indianapolis discovered the formula by accident.  He was cooking rhubarb and noticed how clean the pan was afterwards.  This was due to the oxalic acid in the rhubarb.  Using this acid he formulated a cleaning powder which he sold to taverns to polish their brass.  The tavern owners started calling it " Bar Keepers Friend". It is still manufactured in Indianapolis today using the same formula. The logo on the pack represents the swinging doors of a saloon.
