The only way is up

Our view across the Menai Strait from Beaumaris as we enjoyed some rather good fish & chips.

We decided to visit the castle, which is fascinating in that it was intended as the last word in castle design when Edward 1st kicked off the building project in the late C13. Sadly (for him) he then seriously fell out with Mel Gibson* and the castle was never properly completed.

The weather was quite dreich, which suited the castle, but didn't bring about any good photographs. So instead you have the view across the Menai Strait toward Snowdonia.

* lets not let any pesky history get in the way of a good story :-)

Back blipped, we have traveled to Portmeirion which is a whole other order of surrealism. There is a motorhome site here which allows access to the village after normal closing time so Sunday's blip might be late.
