Diary of an Edinburgher

Catacombs!

I watched an hour or so of Coldplay’s Glastonbury stint. What a terrific band they are. Archie and I then went for a walk across the Meadows, and yes, a cuppa was taken in the cafe. Oh, and a pain raisin… This time, instead of his usual reluctance, Archie trotted in quite the thing.

Back home a couple of hours later, and we watched the next part of the Coldplay concert. How those folk can jump around and sing non stop for hours, I do not know… I think it’s to take their mind off needing the toilet, and the thought of going and finding and then queuing for a smelly portaloo, and then trying to find your friends again.

In the afternoon we all then took a stroll up to the cemetery because the catacombs were open for viewing. A person was explaining a bit about them. There was room for three family bodies in each of those sections, which were just open shelves originally. Until they realised they were a health hazard! (There were explosions!) Then the bodies had to be in coffins, and the crypts sealed.

The others then walked round a bit more, but I came home (7,327 steps was enough) and watched the football. Well done England - you made it!
