Sunshine on Leith

On Thursday afternoon after leaving Mull, we drove to Glasgow where we left the car in valet parking and spent the night in a hotel because this is where we fly back to at the end of our adventure in thirteen days time.
Today (Friday) we had an easy journey across to Edinburgh by coach, then tram down to Leith where we checked in our suitcases prior to boarding our floating home for the next nine days, the Hurtigruten expedition ship Maud. We were treated to welcome aboard cocktails on deck in the sunshine as we slowly navigated our way out of the dock and into the Firth of Forth, leaving behind the distinctive Edinburgh skyline with Arthur’s Seat. It was a beautiful evening as we sailed up the east coast of Scotland, heading northward into a night that never really got dark.
