"it's just a show"

Armed Forces Day 2013!

Veterans, active soldiers, reserve and cadets were all on parade through the city centre of Dundee this morning led by the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland. Amazing band with a sweet sweet sound!

I found it very humbling to stand and watch the celebrations and short service in the Caird Hall grounds as the service and sacrifices made by both men and women during conflicts old and new was acknowledged.

After a flypast by an RAF Typhoon which had visited Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee in 7mins (!!), I made my way to Edinburgh for an afternoon of shopping with the lovely Mim, cocktails and food at Frankie and Benny's, all in the build up to my second viewing of Blood Brothers at Edinburgh Playhouse!

And it did not disappoint! What a performance! Maureen Nolan was absolutely brilliant in the lead role of Mrs Johnston! It was great to see some of the cast hadn't changed from when I seen it Dundee over a year ago and how they had developed their characters and grown into the roles over that time. Needless to say a standing ovation was required!

On route back to Dundee I got rather confused when someone happened to know exactly where I'd been all day and where I currently was, on a train....and how they knew this I have yet to work out and they won't tell me! Feel like I've been part of some MI5 covert spy operation with someone watching my every move! haha!

Either that or they are messing with my head which they tend to do quite a lot! :)
