Visiting...

…………………………………….Tui

This bird is a native to New Zealand.

They look black from a distance, but in good light tui have a blue, green and bronze iridescent sheen, and distinctive white throat tufts.

They feed mainly on nectar from flowers of native plants and occasionally on insects.

This is one of three Tui visiting my garden today for the sugar syrup in the hanging orange container.

For several hours today rain fell. Very late this afternoon the sun put in a brief appearance before disappearing for the day.
