Breakfast
Out early this morning and found the reserve a hive of activitiy - sadly rather a lot of it human: people running, people walking round drinking take-out coffee and talking into their phones and the very chatty volunteer who goes around every Monday picking up litter. I asked him when the paths were likely to be mended in the part that has been shut off since the winter floods - yes, really - but he was rather gloomy about that. The Trust has no money to mend them and the long boardwalk is nearing the end of its life and will need replacing. He even said he wouldn't be surprised if the whole place closed ;( Eeek!!
Still, set against that I had a lovely time watching this youngster getting his breakfast. He was nervous of me being there at first (he really is quite a little one) but soon settled down to eat. Their appetites are voracious! I guess you'd have to do a LOT of grazing to build up those surprisingly solid little bodies. Imagine if it was us and all we had to eat was lettuce ;))
Not a lot else achieved today. A grocery delivery and... Really, I don't know how I've spent the rest of my time, come to think of it. But I do know I feel tired..
My surprise of the day was having a Tory election leaflet pushed through the letterbox from candidate Flick Drummond - the first one we've seen in the entire campaign. She clearly isn't expecting much of a result..
Have a happy evening xx
