GAUDERE ET BENE FACERE

Gaudere et bene facere is one of the only phrases in Latin that I remember as it was my school motto. “Rejoice and do well”. The S A in the logo stands for St Antony as it was a catholic school, even though I am not a Catholic…..that’s another story why I ended up there!

This is a photo of my school blazer and  boater. It is very aged but still would be wearable for fancy dress I guess and …I can fit into it. It was actually rather large for me when I first had it age 11 and it was already second hand!
I kept it as I think it is a very nice looking blazer and it has been in a suitcase in our loft. I have been checking what is in the loft and disposing of quite a bit. Down from five suitcases of ‘stuff’ to three so far.
The ribbon round the boater denotes the house I was in, one of four houses, Fisher house. Named after Saint John Fisher. I became Head of that House in the Upper Sixth.

Today we had our electricity meter fiasco finally resolved with a nice electrician connecting everything up and testing it etc. Fingers crossed the new smart meters work properly as I know of several people who have had problems with them recording accurately!

My husband went to the Oval to cricket with a friend so I picked up the grandchildren who were very good as usual. I wanted to check what was happening at Wimbledon so they watched the Emma Raducano match with me and I explained how the scoring works and they picked it up quite quickly. They will be going to a few days of tennis camp in the holidays as complete beginners so good if they have a bit of background knowledge.
