Getting a grip
When my dear Uncle Arthur passed away we transferred a grape vine he had recently planted to our allotment. It is now really beginning to thrive and it looks like we'll get a decent crop, for the first time, this year. We have strung up a frame for it now but, as today's photo shows, the plant will take grip on any suitable host. It looks as though it has wrapped three long green fingers around an adjacent branch. Talking about getting a grip, that was sadly lacking again in England's performance against Slovakia yesterday evening until a genuine moment of instinctive football magic from Bellingham saved the night for England in the final.minute of the game. It then went into extra time when Harry Kane who, like Bellingham, had done very little of note until then, duly scored the winner. And so, we roll on to Saturday and Switzerland by which time we may have a new government which will, too, get a grip.
