Butterfly rescue

This beautiful butterfly was on the ground on the steps outside the Center for American Physics as I was leaving for the day. I picked it up and it rested on my finger. I moved it to this rock sculpture to rest and recover and prevent it from being trampled. I am not sure the species.

More good research today. And an interesting find to study Friday. But first, off to DC to the Smithsonian Archives and the National Museum of American History Library for additional research.
