Progress?
It's more than two years since the historic centre of Northampton, it's market square, was completely knocked down and dug up so that it could be 'improved', regardless of the petitons signed by thousands of residents who liked it as it was. Here we are, with the promise of the new market square opening in 'summer 2024' (I thought it was summer already), along with permanent stalls, pop-up stalls, performance areas, seating areas, community areas and so forth. There's not much sign of most of these.
So far £12.4 million has been spent (the original budget was for £8.4 million) and as you can see, this is not a finished project. How easily councils spend other people's money. How glibly they make and break promises.
