Setting Me Up

We hired a room at The Bryce for a couple of hours today, so that we could check all our kit was working correctly. For me particularly, I wanted to set my project bass up with my amp to make sure the tone I was after was achievable.
Which it was, after only a bit of tweaking. I’m guessing the pickup isn’t too different in output to the one in my previous bass. It was also a chance to set some basic levels on the mixer for vocals and instruments and to check the auxiliary monitor outputs were working correctly. We were both quite happy with what we could hear through our in-ear monitors, except for the fact that we couldn’t hear the backing tracks - drums, keys, etc. - which meant staying in time was an issue.
It should be reasonably easy to remedy - we just need to find some adapters so that the lead from the iPad can be put through a different channel on the mixer. A channel that we can dial into the in-ears.
But it was still a good practice session. We managed to run through all our set, though with varying degrees of competence depending on how much of the backing track we could make out!
A few things to go away and work on, but we’ve booked the room again for next week on the basis we’ll have sorted the outstanding issues by then and will be able to just run through the set a couple of times. Which would be a good thing as our performance is less than three weeks away now…
