From Mothership to Alien Nest

Bottle Brush aren't native to Salt Spring but we have a dry enough and usually warm enough summer with usually mild winters to allow to grow.
The brown area that looks a bit like a nest is last years seed pods the new bloom is coming from a different new growth branch that just happens to be situated so that it looks like it is blooming out of the old seed pod.
