Road to Monsaraz
...on our way back from Margreth and Göran's, who had used their Continente stickers to get us six more of the gorgeous German wine glasses that I love, so kind of them.
We went late on as it's been awfully hot during the day, 39C today, down to 27 now at midnight, and even hotter tomorrow - 40C/104F.
Four lots of the lamb we were gifted, defrosting in a garlic and rosemary marinade, getting ready for Mike's party on Saturday.
Gratefuls:
- air conditioning
- tackling a job I'd been procrastinating on
- this article by Zadie Smith, read it aloud to Mike at breakfast, and kept having to stop to control my tears, so true, so well said, so many hopes, so much unecessary suffering... especially got to me after having just read Jeremiah 22 ... I had a free Uni education, and wasn't even an official British citizen at that time... I knew what a privilege it was, and I grieve for lost chances for young folk now.
