Torshavn

After a night sailing across the open sea of the North Atlantic we arrived in Torshavn, the capital city of the Faroe Isles. My blip shows the old part of the city with red wooden buildings and grass roofs. The large building at the front with the white lower storey is on the site of the oldest parliament in the world, of age with the Icelandic and Manx parliaments.
C and I joined a hiking group for a walk in the hills and we were enthralled by the magnificent landscape. (Extras to follow when I can). The spectacular rocky cliffs are made up of layers of basalt lava flows, reminding me of the scenery of home but on a much grander scale.
