Wild Buddleia

First job today was a walk to Boston in search of a cauliflower…there were none in the supermarket yesterday..and it is one of our ‘staples’. I did eventually find one in a butcher/greengrocer.. but at a price…£3.25! I asked the proprietor if there was shortage and he said yes…he has had trouble getting any and they are twice the price of a few weeks ago. Bad weather in the UK and drought and rising costs in Spain have hit supplies….

Anyway, on the walk home I spotted this fabulous buddleia growing in a hedgerow at the side of the footpath. A bit of a surprise really, although looking it up it would appear to be a bit of a ‘spreader’ in the wild. It readily colonises waste ground and verges. It is not classified as invasive in the UK or the EU..but it can be  bit of a thug. It is very pretty though.

Well, what a night of election results…all change now.. I do hope that the new PM can lead us out of the mess we are in.
