Change, Good and Bad

My Blip is of a shrivelled flower from our Prayer Plant. The smooth nobbles of my Blip of two days ago have gone, and been replaced by something more angular and spiky.

The UK election has also brought massive change, with Labour gaining a very large majority across the UK.  Unfortunately Blackburn has not followed the same pattern.

Labour lost in Blackburn for the first time since the constituency was created over 70 years ago by just 132 votes. It was for the same reason that I lost my council seat in May.  Many Muslim voters are not happy with Keir Starmer's initial comments on Gaza back in October 2023. And democracy means if you get enough people to vote your way then you win.

What the last few months have done for community cohesion may take quite a while to show, but it doesn't feel positive at this point.

It is ironic that for the last few years the only Labour presence in East Lancashire was here in Blackburn,  and now the only place that isn't Labour is also here.
