Feeling the heat..

Our Dahlia again..not the prettiest of blooms but I was really drawn to the frazzled state of the petals contrasting with what I thought was new growth in the middle.. My partner corrected me and assured me that it was just the flower dying back . The fact that I talk about ' growth in the middle ' ...says a lot about what I know about gardening..
