Miner's Bag

My #1 daughter and I spent a very happy afternoon reliving many years’ worth of wonderful memories with this delightful young woman, Tracey and her Partner Steve.  My daughter and T work together at the infant school now and I have known T and  her lovely and talented family since I came to Shropshire in 1973.  T was 9 and my daughter nearly 6.  T’s father was the most lovely man as was her Mum.  Both sadly not with us anymore though.

T’s father played all sorts of musical instruments and we used to go to our band practise every Sunday evening.  He played soprano sax and I played Alto sax in that particular Band whereas he played various other instruments in other bands.  I loved his company as he was full of interesting stories of some of the jobs he had done.  Particularly when he was a miner, how very brave those men were.  In my blip you will see T showing off her father’s leather Miner’s bag which used to be attached to his belt containing his day’s food and other essentials.

Another mixed weather day.  Mostly wet and jolly cold this morning so T lit the log burner which was very welcome.
