Lime tree flowers

It’s remarkable, it’s the 7th July and the lime tree flowers are just opening, same date as every year. I wonder what triggers them?
Unfortunately just as I took the photo the rain came pouring down again. The bees were out as soon as the sun returned so perhaps we shall have a little honey, even a couple of jars would be great!
