MAKING BEER THE OLD FASHIONED WAY
This is my baby brother beginning the process of making beer...the old fashioned way. It's done according to the "old methods" brought here by our immigrant ancestors from Germany. Here he is pouring a measured amount of very hot water onto some mash....a mixture of hops, barley and some other esoteric ingredients. It takes most of the day to make a barrel of liquid gold and then it has to ferment and ultimately be bottled or put into a keg for aging, depending on the mash mixture.

He's one of several brewers at Old World Wisconsin, an official hystyrical historical site featuring how life was in early Wisconsin....we're talking 1848 era (when we officially became a state) and earlier. Have a look at the official website of OWW for more information: https://oldworldwisconsin.wisconsinhistory.org/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwnK60BhA9EiwAmpHZwwN02ia05nZqME2h04N4AW1WGJM4IqOMu1nFBAtMcmCIPlhMcJ0g8xoCIXsQAvD_BwE

His favorite part of the exercise is answering questions from the visitors to the brewhouse and detailing the brewing process. He's very good at it....something I would not have predicted given his "I'd rather be in the background" attitude when he was younger. He has matured wonderfully. That's my brother showing the world how it's done!
