All trains are cancelled

Scotrail’s inability to train and retain train crew made for a laborious end to the evening, more of this later.

Earlier, Ali and Eve joined us for brunch and then helped us prepare BBQ salads. The Embra friends arrived early afternoon and the sun shone long enough to sit out and relax before a brief trot round the highlights of the village.

Then we cooked lots of veggie BBQ food and some meaty stuff too as drinks and conversations were undertaken.

Owen had enjoyed a lift down from Embra but his plan to train it home was thwarted by all trains to Embra cancelled due to crew shortages. Helpfully, his ticket was valid on all Border or Lothian buses….except the first bus within 30 miles was departing Gala at 6.25am. I drove the 2 hour return trip to get him home. Pah.
