Lacy's Caves
We met up with some friends today at Little Salkeld, and walked to Long Meg and her Daughters, a great stone circle that I'd never visited before. We continued along a route that our friends had found, along a footpath marked "closed" and reached Lacy's Caves. An amazing series of five chambers in the red sandstone cliff of the River Eden, named after Lieutenant-Colonel Samuel Lacy, who commissioned their carving in the 18th century.
However difficult they were to get to, they were well worth seeing, and I have every intention to revisit with tripod and full kit again sometime.
